River McCarthy has been selected as the 2026 “Little Miss Poppy” for West Mansfield American Legion Post 603.
River is the daughter of Sebrina and Robert McCarthy of Big Springs and will be entering first grade next year at Benjamin Logan Schools.
As part of her role, River is collecting donations for Operation Comfort Warriors, a program that provides wounded service members with rehabilitation equipment for physical therapy, along with comfort items such as clothing, electronics, sports equipment, music, and more.
American Legion Post 603 will honor fallen service members during its annual Memorial Day Service at 10 a.m. on May 25 at the Conservation Clubhouse, located at 701 South Main Street in West Mansfield.
The public is invited to attend.
Carl Adams, a United States Marine Corps veteran, will serve as the guest speaker, and music will be provided by the Community Choir.
