West Liberty-Salem High School recently honored its 21st Annual White Tiger Award recipients, recognizing students in grades 9–12 who demonstrate exceptional character, leadership, and a positive impact within the school community.
The White Tiger Award, established by longtime educator Angie Warye, celebrates students who go above and beyond in kindness, perseverance, and uplifting others—qualities that make them stand out, much like the rare and symbolic white tiger.
Warye’s legacy continues through the Angie Warye Foundation, which provides scholarship opportunities to award recipients, supporting their future goals and continuing her commitment to student success.
During the ceremony, teachers and staff shared personal reflections on each honoree, highlighting the meaningful contributions they have made at West Liberty-Salem. Each student received a certificate, a personalized letter, and the opportunity to apply for a Warye Foundation scholarship.
The White Tiger Ceremony remains a valued tradition at WL-S, celebrating the character and leadership that define the school’s student body while honoring a legacy that continues to inspire.
