A Bellefontaine High School graduate is earning recognition at the collegiate level, as Marietta College junior defensive lineman Harper Scott has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week.
Scott received his first career weekly award Monday after helping lead the Pioneers to a 49-28 rivalry victory over Muskingum on Saturday.
The 2024 Bellefontaine graduate finished the game with five tackles, including three solo stops. Two of his tackles resulted in losses totaling nine yards. Scott also recorded a sack and forced a fumble against the Fighting Muskies.
Scott has been a consistent presence on the defensive line this season. He ranks sixth in the Ohio Athletic Conference with nine tackles for loss, accounting for 30 yards lost.
At Bellefontaine, Scott starred at linebacker for the Chieftains before continuing his football career at Marietta. He is currently majoring in management.
Scott and the Pioneers will return to action Saturday, October 31, when they travel to face Heidelberg. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
Scott is the son of Robert and Karla Scott.
