The Bellefontaine Middle School boys and girls track teams both came away with strong performances—and team wins—Wednesday night in a tri-meet at Marion.
On the boys side, Bellefontaine topped Licking Heights and Marion Harding, with several athletes turning in first-place finishes.
Leading the way was Jackson Maus, who won both the 1600-meter and 800-meter runs. Sennett Stolly also had a big night, taking first in the 200-meter hurdles and finishing second in the 110-meter hurdles.
Nolan Parmer placed first in the 400-meter dash and added a second-place finish in the 200-meter run, while Broxtyn Emrick sprinted to a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash and added a fourth-place finish in the long jump.
In field events, Ean Fultz won discus and finished second in shot put, and Bennett Lang took first in the pole vault.
Other notable finishes included Lucas Lin with two second-place finishes in the 1600 and 800, Jax Fleming with second-place finishes in the 400 and 200-meter hurdles, and Brody Willis placing second in the high jump.
Additional scoring performances came from Caleb Hudson, William Robb, William Jenkins, Carson Penhorwood, Isaac Merrin, Isaiah Hayes, Beau Gibson, and Camden Vollrath.
The Chieftain boys will next compete at the Lakeview Invitational in Pickerington.
On the girls side, the Bellefontaine Chieftains also came out on top in a rain-soaked tri-meet against Marion Grant and Licking Heights, finishing with 61 points.
Gianna Davis led the way with wins in both the 200 and 400-meter races. Braelyn Neer took first in discus, Kylie Lowe won the 800-meter run, and Annie Gallaway claimed first in shot put.
The team also saw a strong night of improvement, with several athletes recording personal records. Those athletes included Taraji Johnson, Elli Bosiljevac, Lyrix Smith, Caitlyn Shaffer, Eva Wilson, Nahla Arruza, Jazmin Nelson, Skylar Phan, Annie Gallaway, Kennedy Hairston, Mya McGinnis, Myra Varner, Eva Martinez, and Alexis Hogan.
The Bellefontaine girls will travel to Pickerington on Saturday before heading to North Union on Monday.
