The Triad Local School District has announced new leadership for its boys and girls golf programs, naming veteran educator and coach John Millice as head coach of the boys team and Cortney Morgan as head coach of the girls program for the 2026 season.

Millice returns to lead the boys golf program after serving as head coach of the girls team during the 2024 season. A longtime educator and coach at Triad, he brings nearly three decades of experience to the role and has coached both the boys’ and girls’ golf programs throughout his tenure with the district.

Among his most notable accomplishments, Millice guided the Triad boys golf team to a 12th-place finish at the Division III State Golf Championship at The Ohio State University’s Gray Course in 2006. That team was recently recognized with induction into the Triad Athletics Hall of Fame, highlighting one of the most successful seasons in school history.

District officials said Millice’s return provides the boys program with experienced leadership and a proven track record of success as the Cardinals prepare for the upcoming season.

The district also announced the appointment of Cortney Morgan as head coach of the Triad girls golf team, pending approval by the Board of Education.

Morgan is a 2006 graduate of Triad High School, where she earned four varsity letters as a member of the girls golf program. She continued her playing career at Urbana University before entering the workforce.

Currently employed by Honda of America Manufacturing, Morgan remains connected to the Triad community. Her son, Colton McClure, will enter the eighth grade at Triad Middle School this fall.

School officials expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Morgan to the coaching staff and said they look forward to her leadership in growing the girls golf program while encouraging more student-athletes to participate in the sport.

With experienced leadership returning to the boys program and a former Triad standout taking the reins of the girls team, the district is optimistic about the future of both golf programs as they prepare for the 2026 season.
