Chiefs 12U Defeats Butler Friday

Chiefs 12U defeated Butler Baseball Club 6-5 Friday evening.

The Chiefs trailed 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning when Colson Garver hit a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Hudson Banta followed by a Sammy Strayer single scoring Ean Fultz to tie the game 4-4.

The Chiefs took the lead in the bottom of 6th on a sacrifice fly by Strayer.

Butler Baseball Club rallied to tie the game 5-5 in the top of the seventh, setting up for an exciting finish for the Chiefs.

Keaton Dinovo reached base with one out in the bottom of the inning and stole second on the first pitch of Rowen Daring’s at-bat.

On the next pitch, Dinovo broke for 3rd and Daring dropped a great bunt down third.

Butler’s 3rd baseman fielded the ball and threw to first.

Dinovo rounded third and headed home diving in safely just ahead of the tag to give the Chiefs a 6-5 victory.

Ean Fultz had a pair of hits including a double.

Dean Buffkin, Banta, Strayer, and Dinovo each collected a hit.

Strayer drove in 3 runs.

Banta, Dinovo, and Fultz handled the pitching for the Chiefs, scattering 4 hits and striking out 7.

The Chiefs improve to 16-3-1 on the season.
