Area girls’ track and field athletes delivered strong performances at multiple OHSAA regional meets this weekend, highlighted by regional championships from Bellefontaine’s Kelsie Snapp and several state-qualifying efforts across the area. Athletes from Bellefontaine, Benjamin Logan, Indian Lake, Mechanicsburg, and Triad secured either automatic state qualifications by finishing in the top five or earned at-large state bids with sixth- through eighth-place finishes.
OHSAA Division III Regional – Piqua
Bellefontaine Chieftains
Bellefontaine was led by senior thrower Kelsie Snapp and standout hurdler Callie Shumaker as the Chieftains produced multiple state qualifiers.
Snapp continued her dominant postseason by capturing a regional championship in the discus with a throw of 136-6. She also secured a second state berth in the shot put, placing fourth with a mark of 40-4.
Shumaker qualified for state in both hurdle events, placing fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a season-best 14.96 before finishing fifth in the 300-meter hurdles in 45.39.
Distance standout Grace Brown bounced back from an 11th-place finish in the 1600 meters to earn an at-large state bid in the 3200, placing sixth with a personal-best time of 11:08.26.
Bellefontaine’s 4×800 relay team of Kaeleigh Flora, Hannah Wilson, Grace Brown, and Layla Davis finished 12th in 10:15.21.
In the sprint events, Layla Davis narrowly missed the 400-meter finals, placing 11th in the preliminaries with a personal-best 1:00.45, while Jillian Ullom finished 14th in 1:03.70.
The 4×200 relay team of Jillian Ullom, Layla Davis, Sloan Stolly, and Callie Shumaker placed 13th in 1:49.20, while the 4×400 relay squad of Shumaker, Ullom, Kaeleigh Flora, and Davis finished 11th in 4:13.23.
Benjamin Logan Raiders
Benjamin Logan was led by junior Abby Vance, who qualified for state in two events.
Vance earned an automatic state berth in the long jump with a third-place, personal-best leap of 17-9. She also secured an at-large state bid in the 200-meter dash after finishing seventh in 25.79 and placed eighth in the 100-meter final in 12.81.
Kyla Godwin earned a state berth in the discus with a fifth-place, personal-best throw of 121-6. Teammate Kaylee Hays placed 13th at 109-7.
Autumn Cline finished 11th in the shot put with a personal-best throw of 34-8, while Storm LeVan placed 15th in the 300-meter hurdle preliminaries with a personal-best 50.08.
Benjamin Logan’s 4×100 relay team of Daylin Varner, Storm LeVan, Scarlett Elliott, and Abby Vance finished 14th in the preliminaries in 51.85.
Additional field-event performances came from Scarlett Elliott in pole vault and Madi Oakes in high jump.
Indian Lake Lakers
Indian Lake’s postseason run was highlighted by senior Addison Beck, who earned an automatic state berth in the high jump with a fourth-place clearance of 5-3.

Beck also competed in three additional events, placing 12th in long jump at 16-5.5, 12th in the 100-meter preliminaries in 12.76, and 12th in the 200-meter preliminaries in 26.38.
Terra Beltz represented the Lakers in both throwing events, placing 14th in shot put at 30-9 and 14th in discus at 76-3.

Urbana Hillclimbers
Urbana was led by Olivia MacKendrick and Avari Jenkins.
MacKendrick turned in a personal-best 2:21.09 to finish 10th in the 800 meters, while Jenkins placed 10th in the 400-meter preliminaries with a season-best 1:00.34.
The Hillclimbers’ 4×400 relay team of Bella Moxley, Brylee Spriggs, Avari Jenkins, and Olivia MacKendrick finished 12th in the preliminaries with a time of 4:13.59.
Graham Falcons
Freshmen Avonle Niece and Harriet Uhl represented Graham at the regional meet.
Niece recorded a personal-best 16.70 while placing 11th in the 100-meter hurdle preliminaries. Uhl finished 16th in the 1600 meters with a time of 6:00.13.
OHSAA Division V Regional – Cuyahoga Heights
Mechanicsburg Indians
Mechanicsburg qualified multiple athletes and relay teams for the state championships behind another strong performance from the Rodgers sisters.
Clair Rodgers earned an automatic state berth in the 800 meters with a third-place finish in 2:18.32, while Isabelle Rodgers secured an at-large bid after placing sixth in 2:22.60.
The Indians’ 4×800 relay team of Isabelle Rodgers, Evelyn Shultz, Ayla Picklesimon, and Clair Rodgers automatically qualified for state with a runner-up finish in 9:40.68.
Mechanicsburg’s 4×400 relay team of Isabelle Rodgers, Evelyn Shultz, Ayla Picklesimon, and Clair Rodgers finished eighth in 4:24.57 and remains in line for at-large consideration.
OHSAA Division V Regional – Chillicothe
Triad Cardinals
Freshman Avery Eaton continued her outstanding season by earning an at-large state berth in the 100-meter hurdles.
After placing sixth in the preliminaries in 16.11, Eaton ran a personal-best 16.07 in the finals to finish seventh overall and secure a trip to state.
Teammate Kimber Instine also competed in the hurdle preliminaries and finished 14th in 17.80.
Eaton will represent Triad at the state championships after one of the area’s top freshman campaigns.
