Chiefs down Northwestern; Riverside falls to Miami East

Bellefontaine defeated Northwestern 6-2 on Friday.

The Chiefs opened the scoring in the first when Jose Sandoval hit into a fielder’s choice allowing one run to score.

Bellefontaine extended their early lead with four runs in the top of the second thanks to RBIs from Sutton Daring, Brody Boy, and Sandoval.

Alex Crabill led things off on the mound for Bellefontaine, allowing four hits and two runs over five innings, striking out five and walking one.

Kaleb Valle stepped on the hill first for Northwestern.

He surrendered five hits and six runs (two earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out five and walking two.

Beckham Harman pitched two innings of zero-run ball for Bellefontaine in relief, allowing two hits, striking out three and walking none.

Daring, Patrick Stolly, Spencer Stolly, Boy, and Aven Caudill each collected a hit for the Chiefs.

Sandoval and Boy were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in a run for Bellefontaine.

Brayden Gochenouer and Kaleb Valle were the bright spots for the Warriors as each drove in one run for Northwestern.

Bellefontaine travels to Tippecanoe for their next game on Saturday.

The Riverside Pirates traveled to Miami East Friday night and dropped a close league contest 5-3.

Landon Purtee toed the rubber for the Pirates taking the loss while pitching a complete game, giving up 9 hits, 4 earned runs, and striking out 8.

Purtee also led the Riverside offense driving in 1 run with a single.

Syler Clark doubled for the Pirates.

The Pirates return to action Saturday at Milton-Union High School.

Friday’s game against Jonathan Alder was a heartbreaker for the Graham Falcons, as they lost a late lead to fall, 6-5.

The game was tied at five in the top of the eighth when Tyler Barton grounded out, scoring the game-winning run.

Breyton Reisinger started on the mound for the Falcons.

The righty surrendered two hits and five runs (one earned) over three and one-third innings, striking out five and walking six.

Garrett Bauer started on the hill for Jonathan Alder.

The pitcher allowed five hits and five runs over six innings, striking out five and walking five.

Dylan LaFollette, Reisinger, Owen Powell, Holden Dunham, and Carsen Rogers each collected a hit for Graham.

Barton went 1-for-5 at the plate and led Jonathan Alder with two RBIs.

Corey Taylor, Grant Horne, Ashton Martin, Brooks Pierce, and Barton each collected one hit for Jonathan Alder.

Graham is at home on Saturday against Anna. Jonathan Alder is at Heath.
