Bellefontaine football standout Braylon Newcomb recently signed his letter of intent with Eastern Kentucky University.

The record-setting wide receiver chose EKU after receiving an offer in August.

He was impressed with the school and the coaches.

Newcomb also considered Ashland University and Tiffin University.

He had a spectacular season for the Chiefs.

Newcomb had 77 catches for 1,195 yards and 17 touchdowns. The speedster led the CBC in receiving yards and touchdown receptions.

He set the school record for receiving yards in a game with 235 yards in Week 1 at Sidney.

Newcomb earned First Team CBC, First Team Southwest District, and First Team All-Ohio honors this fall.

He also shined on defense at cornerback and was an outstanding kick and punt returner.

Newcomb also stars in high school basketball.

He will study sports psychology at Eastern Kentucky and play receiver for the Colonels.

Newcomb reflected on his signing, his time at Bellefontaine, and more:

This has been a historic stretch for Bellefontaine football. The last time the Chiefs had two Division I signees in the same year was 1969 when Jesse Williams and Gail Clark signed with Michigan State.

BHS quarterback Tavien St. Clair signed with Ohio State last week.
