Chiefs, Pirates, & Tigers win in straight sets – Varsity & middle school volleyball from Thursday

Several local volleyball teams hit the court Thursday.

Bellefontaine hosted North Union and the varsity won in straight sets: 25-9, 25-21, and 25-15.

Blocking was key for the Chiefs as Oliva Ullom and Delmary Zays-Colon tallied 8 blocks each, while Ava Campbell added 6 blocks and Julia Nelson recorded 2 blocks.

Ullom also had 4 kills and 5 digs.

Lily Palmer went 48/48 setting with 17 assists, was 18/19 serving, and had 7 digs.

Kelsie Snapp added 14 kills, 14 digs, and 4 blocks and was 12/12 serving.

Taylor Banta went 16/16 serving with 4 aces and added 8 kills and 6 digs.

Latoya Rogan had 15 digs and 2 saves.

Madi Zedeker was 51/51 setting, with 12 assists, and went 7/7 serving.

Reagan Standley added 7 digs.

The Chieftain JV Red team fell short to North Union: 21-25, 20-25.

Gabbe Hoon tallied 4 kills and 4 blocks.

Perri Neeld added 4 blocks.

Kaeleigh Flora had 3 kills and went 8/8 serving.

Airiana Young went 41/41 setting, 9 assists, and was 8/8 serving with 3 aces.

Kenzie Flora was 7/8 serving.

Ava Reeves added 8 digs.

The Chieftain JV Black team also fell short to North Union in two sets: 24-26 and 22-25.

Kylee Boggs went 7/7 serving and 25/25 setting with 7 assists and 7 digs.

Maddie Ullom had 7 digs, 3 kills and was 6/7 serving.

Zoey Conner added 5 digs, and 2 kills.

Zoey Lavendar had 4 digs and perfect serving.

Ava Dolan had 3 digs and perfect serving.

Lauren Valdez added 2 kills and went 7/8 serving.

Bellefontaine hosts Wapakoneta Saturday, with the JV Red game beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The West Liberty-Salem varsity team traveled to West Jefferson and won in three straight sets: 25-16, 25-15, 25-16.

For the Tigers:

Bailey Poppe tallied 8 kills, 8 digs, 10/11 serving with one ace, 33/33 setting with 10 assists, and 1 block.

Londyn Loveless was 29/30 setting with 9 assists and 2 aces.

Leah Ropp recorded 5 digs, 2 kills, 11/12 serving with 2 aces, and 2 blocks.

Chaley Wade had 4 kills, 3 digs, and 1 block

Olivia Wilcox tallied 15 digs, went 6/6 serving, 20/22 on serves received, and 2 assists.

Naomi Cole recorded 5 kills and was 13/15 serving with 6 aces, and 2 blocks.

Ava Poppe had 1 kill, 4 digs, 9/12 serving with 2 aces, and 2 blocks.

Briley Sullivan tallied 1 kill and 3 blocks.

The JV Lady Tigers beat West Jefferson in two sets: 25-18 and 25-19.

Lyndee Harrison was 40/40 in setting with 13 assists, 7 digs, 4/5 serving with 1 ace.

Bexley Wilcoxon had 1 block, 2 kills, and 5/5 on serve receive.

Ava Cole tallied 2 digs and 2 kills.

Josie Hostetler recorded 1 block, 5 kills, and 5/5 serving.

Ellah Hemminger had 6 digs, 8 kills, 4/4 serving, and went 7/7 on serve receive

Riverside’s varsity team defeated Waynesfield-Goshen to earn their first win of the season in straight sets: 25-10, 25-20, and 25-17.

For the Pirates, Alaina Snow paced the team with 12 assists, 13 digs, 5 aces, 5 kills, and 3 blocks.

Jade Copas brought in another 9 kills.

Aubree Huston was 100% from the serving line & led the team with 14 digs.

The JV Pirates fell to Waynesfield-Goshen in two sets: 23-25 and 22-25.

Zoey Ransbottom led Riverside with 4 assists,1 kill, and 2 digs, Shaye McGill had 1 assist,1 kill, 1 ace, and 1 dig, Emma Strayer tallied 1 kill, 1 ace, and 9 digs, Gillian Knight recorded 4 digs, Riley Dillon had 2 aces and 2 digs, and Briana Bradley contributed with 4 kills.

Fairbanks varsity team beat Northeastern in straight sets: 25-10, 25-10, 25-5.

Middle School:

The West Liberty-Salem 7th grade team lost to West Jefferson in straight sets: 16-25 and 23-25.

Mckayla Reames had 3 aces and Aubralyn Wiant tallied 2 aces for the Tigers.

The 8th grade Lady Tigers defeated West Jefferson in two sets: 25-15 and 25-7.

Kiersten Stoll led WL-S with 7 kills, 4 aces, 1 dig and 1 assist, Emma Liggett added 2 kills, 6 aces, and 1 assist, Belle Sarver had 3 kills, 1 ace, and a solo block, Lilli Heminger tallied 2 kills, 4 aces, and 1 dig, Zoe Carter recorded 3 aces and 1 kill, Skyler Ropp had 2 kills, Sophia Landon had 11 assists and 1 ace, Reagan Winters added 4 assists and 3 aces, and Ashlyn Pope had 1 dig.

The Riverside 7th grade team lost to Bethel in three sets: 25-23 19-25 and 5-25.

The top scorers for the Pirates were: Kenzie Stotler with 12 points and 2 aces, Molly Carman scored 3 points, and Chloe Purtee had 2 points.

The Lady Pirate 8th grade team also lost to Bethel in straight sets: 25-16 and 25-19.

Emilee Robinson had 7 points for Riverside and Kenna Johnson recorded 3 points, 2 aces, and a block.
