Four more Lakers set to compete at the next level after signing day

Four more Indian Lake High School seniors are set to continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level after officially signing with their future schools.

Rapp Taking Wrestling Talents to Wittenberg

Indian Lake multi-sport standout Annie Rapp has signed to continue her wrestling career at Wittenberg University, where she will compete for the Tigers’ women’s wrestling program.

Rapp said Wittenberg quickly stood out during her college search thanks to its welcoming atmosphere, attractive campus and close proximity to home.

“I really enjoyed the coach and the campus was very pretty. It is also very close to home and I can go home whenever I need to.”

A standout in volleyball, wrestling and softball, Rapp helped lead the Lakers volleyball team to two CBC championships and two sectional titles. On the wrestling mat, she captured the first-ever CBC Girls Wrestling Championship and finished eighth at the OHSAA Girls State Wrestling Tournament. She also played a key role in the Indian Lake softball program that won multiple sectional, district and regional titles and finished as State Runner-Up in 2023.

Her individual accomplishments include Honorable Mention All-CBC Volleyball, Wrestling Sectional Champion, Third Place at Districts, Eighth Place at the OHSAA Girls State Wrestling Tournament, and First and Second Team All-CBC Softball honors.

Rapp plans to study Exercise Science with the goal of becoming an athletic trainer.

Pequignot Signs with Ohio Northern Basketball Program

Indian Lake senior Avery Pequignot has signed to continue his basketball career at Ohio Northern University.

Pequignot helped lead the Lakers to four consecutive CBC boys basketball championships and said he is grateful for the opportunity to continue competing at the next level while staying close to home.

A true multi-sport athlete, Pequignot also helped guide the Indian Lake soccer team to its first-ever CBC championship in 2024 and was part of the football team that reached the State Final Four in 2025.

His long list of honors includes First Team All-CBC Basketball as a junior and senior, First Team All-District Basketball as a junior and senior, Third Team All-Southwest District Basketball, Honorable Mention All-Ohio Basketball, three First Team All-CBC Soccer selections, CBC Soccer Player of the Year as a junior and senior, three First Team All-District Soccer honors, All-Ohio Soccer, All-Great Lakes Region Soccer, First Team All-CBC Football as a kicker, First Team All-District Football, First Team All-Southwest District Football and Honorable Mention All-Ohio Football.

Pequignot plans to study Construction Management while pursuing a minor in Business.

Strayer Headed to Muskingum for Basketball

Indian Lake basketball standout Carly Strayer has signed with Muskingum University, where she will continue her career with the Muskies women’s basketball program.

Strayer said the coaching staff, campus atmosphere and academic opportunities made Muskingum the perfect fit.

“The coaches and all of the faculty are very nice and care about you. It’s not too far from home, but close enough that I could come home whenever. It is also a very pretty campus and has a good program for what I want to study.”

A four-year contributor for the Lady Lakers, Strayer emerged as one of the area’s top players and a leader on the court throughout her high school career.

Her accomplishments include First Team All-CBC honors in 2025 and 2026, District 9 Coaches Team recognition in 2025 and 2026, CBC Athlete of the Month honors and District Honorable Mention recognition.

Strayer plans to study Exercise Science and pursue a career as a physical therapist.

Vance Continuing Track Career at Defiance

Indian Lake athlete Jordan Vance has signed with Defiance University, where he will continue his track and field career.

Vance competed in football as well as indoor and outdoor track during his time at Indian Lake and said the welcoming coaching staff helped make his college decision an easy one.

Vance is looking forward to improving as an athlete while competing at the collegiate level.

He plans to study Criminal Justice at Defiance University.

With Rapp, Pequignot, Strayer and Vance all continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level, Indian Lake’s Signing Day class once again highlights the dedication, versatility and success of Laker student-athletes both in competition and in the classroom.
