The Church Softball League crowned its champion for 2026 Tuesday night. #1 Quest faced off with #2 Gretna in the tournament final.
The scoring started quickly as Gretna jumped out 8-0 after the top of the first.
Quest battled right back and grabbed six runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 8-6.
Gretna seized control of the game in the top of the fourth when they scored 9 times. The inning was jumpstarted by a Doug Hager 2-run homer.
The two teams traded a couple of runs the next few innings and the final score ended up 24-9.
Jerrod Henry and Andy Phelps both went 4-4 for Gretna.
TJ Teets hit a 3-run homer and Seth Schultz had an inside the parker for Quest.
Gretna finishes the season at 10-1 while Quest ends with a 10-1 record.
This is Gretna’s third title in the last 7 seasons.
The Church Softball League brings together local churches each summer for a season of friendly competition, fellowship, and community. More than just a game, the league provides an opportunity to build relationships, encourage one another, and celebrate faith through sportsmanship.
Teams participating this year came from Bellefontaine Grace (two teams), Cornerstone in Huntsville, Bellefontaine First Church of God, Goshen Friends, Gretna, Quest, and Redemption.
