The local soccer season continued Tuesday with Calvary Christian and West Liberty-Salem both taking the field.

Calvary Christian Boys

Calvary Christian opened its home schedule in impressive fashion Tuesday, shutting out Indian Lake 6-0.

Brothers Cale Buchenroth and Graham Buchenroth led the offense, with each scoring twice in the victory.

Adler Andre and Brett Gildow also found the back of the net with a goal apiece.

Four of Calvary Christian’s six goals were assisted, with Kole Gantz, Ransom Lambert, Cale Buchenroth and Zack Hart each recording an assist.

The shutout was anchored by goalkeeper Brody Prall, who kept Indian Lake off the scoreboard, while Gavin Householder and the Calvary defense helped complete the clean sheet.

The victory gives Calvary Christian another strong result after the team finished third in the Quest Cup over the weekend.

Calvary Christian will have some time off before returning to action September 3 at New Knoxville.

West Liberty-Salem Girls

West Liberty-Salem opened the season Tuesday with a road matchup at Springfield Shawnee, falling 7-1.

Ellery Wygal scored the lone goal for the Lady Tigers.

Goalkeeper Ella Jacobs kept West Liberty-Salem in the match with 12 saves.

The Lady Tigers are now 0-1 on the season and will have an opportunity to bounce back Thursday when they open conference play at home against Northeastern.

Kickoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
