The Triad High School Athletic Department has announced the hiring of Harold Travis as its new varsity girls basketball coach, pending approval from the Triad Local School Board.

Travis brings several years of coaching experience within the Triad basketball program, including five years coaching fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-grade girls basketball through the Triad Junior Basketball Association. He also served as Triad Middle School’s seventh-grade girls basketball coach from 2023 to 2025.

In addition to his work with Triad’s youth and middle school programs, Travis has spent four years coaching fifth- and sixth-grade girls AAU travel teams.

Travis was one of 14 applicants for the varsity head coaching position. Following a series of interviews, the athletic department selected him to lead the program.

During the interview process, Travis outlined several goals for the high school program, including building a winning culture, developing relationships based on trust, establishing a year-round commitment to basketball, and strengthening the program through fundamentals, consistent coaching, and a competitive environment. He also identified competing for Ohio Heritage Conference titles as an ultimate goal.

Travis said he wants the identity of the Triad girls basketball program to center around five principles: “relentless effort on defense, ready to attack, smart in every moment, skilled in every action and together in everything.”

Travis met with current and potential players on Friday, October 30. His immediate focus is on increasing participation in the high school program and getting players back into the gym for the start of preseason practices this week.

Outside of coaching, Travis has worked at Honda of America Manufacturing for 14 years, where he currently serves as a New Model Project Lead. He resides in Cable with his wife, Angelita, and their two daughters, Lacey, 16, and Liberty, 11.

Travis will be recommended for hire during the Triad Local School Board’s regular meeting on Wednesday, November 18, 2026.
