The Calvary Christian varsity Spartans kicked off the grand opening of their new gym with a solid 58-37 win over the Ansonia Tigers.
Senior Zeeke Wylie led the charge with 17 points, including three 3-pointers.
Wylie also added four rebounds and two steals.
Christian Rogan followed closely with 16 points, contributing two 3-pointers, two rebounds, and three steals.
Philip Davie scored 10 points while also adding five rebounds, three steals, and four assists.
Daniel Young had 9 points, two 3-pointers, five rebounds, and one steal.
Evan Schmidt contributed six points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
The Spartans will travel to Lima Temple next Saturday.
The Riverside Pirates returned to the court after a two-week break but were defeated 56-49 by Lima Temple.
After trailing 18-7 at the end of the first quarter, the Pirates closed the gap in the second half.
Senior Gavin Orsborne set a school record with his 143rd career 3-pointer in the third quarter, helping spark a comeback to 38-41.
The game remained tight in the fourth quarter, but Riverside ultimately fell short.
Jaxon Woods led the team with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks.
Gavin Orsborne scored 11 points.
Hayden Sanford contributed 7 points and a block.
Damien Smith added 5 points and two blocks.
The Riverside JV team also lost 70-46, with Blaine Shoe leading with 12 points and four assists.
