Bellefontaine’s Tavien St. Clair saw his first action at quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes Saturday afternoon.

Coach Ryan Day said St. Clair was behind Julian Sayin and Lincoln Kienholz on the depth chart, but that didn’t prevent him from seeing some game action.

In front of 40,000+ at Ohio Stadium, St. Clair went 11-15 for 116 yards with 1 TD and thew 2 interceptions. St. Clair did guide his team to a field goal in the fourth quarter and threw his touchdown a few minutes later to cap the day’s scoring. Tavien tossed an 8-yard TD to Phillip Bell to end the day.

Kienholtz finished 12-18 for 158 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sayin went 17-24 for 175 yards and 1 touchdown.

The annual event was almost changed to a spring showcase. With the expanded playoff and Ohio State’s last game coming on January 20, coach Ryan Day considered not doing a scrimmage sparing his players more wear and tear.

This year it was Offense vs. Defense instead of the traditional Scarlet vs. Gray. The offense triumphed over the defense 50-31.

The next time we see the Buckeyes take the field will be in the 2025 season opener when they host Texas on August 30.
