Urbana squeaks past Calvary Christian; Tigers down Lakers

In Urbana, Calvary Christian visited the Hillclimbers and nearly upset Urbana on their Senior Night.

It was neck-and-neck the entire game, with the lead switching several times before the final buzzer.

With the help of Senior Daniel Young, the Spartans tied the game at 28 apiece with just a minute and 30 seconds left on the clock in the third.

In the end, however, it was the Hillclimbers on top 45-40.

Senior Forward Sam Wilhelm led the Hillclimbers with 15 points.

Senior Guard Gavin Hower put in 10 more to help lead the team to victory.

Young finished with 9 for the Spartans, just 1 point behind fellow Seniors Ezekial Wylie and Philip Davie.

Urbana improves their record to 13-7 overall and 5-4 in the conference and will travel to London to face the Red Raiders Friday.

West Liberty-Salem Tigers defeated visiting Indian Lake Tuesday night in a nail-biter, 62-60.

Freshman guard Beckett Sullivan led the Tigers with 16 points.

Sophomore guard Sutton Wilcoxon added 13 in the win.

For the Lakers, Sophomore star Brodey Reisinger led with 23 followed by Junior Avery Pequignot with 21.

The Tigers are now 12-9 Overall and 11-4 OHC.

Indian Lake is 14-7 overall and 8-1 in the CBC.

West Liberty will face Fairbanks next in West Liberty Friday night.

Indian Lake is at Shawnee.

The JVA (18-2) team defeated Indian Lake 47-35.

Josiah Johnson led the Tigers with 15 points.

And lastly, West Liberty-Salem’s JVB (12-3) defeated Northwestern 48-36.

They were led by Reagan McCullough’s 11 points.

The Benjamin Logan Raiders hosted USV Tuesday night and lost 66-49.

Roman Maxwell and Carter Fay each scored 9 points for the Raiders.

The JV Raiders defeated USV 61-35.

Diesel Baughman scored 13 points and Owen Stratton added 12 points.

Benjamin Logan ends the season at 1-19 overall and 0-9 in the conference.

They host Graham Friday night in tournament play.

The Bellefontaine Chieftains fell to the London Red Raiders Tuesday night in a close CBC matchup 52-47.

For the Chiefs, Jacob Salyer scored 18 points and Jair Mundy added 16.

In the JV contest, Bellefontaine lost 43-42.

Sutton Daring had 19 points and AJ Conaway scored 10 points to lead the Chiefs.

In the freshman game, Bellefontaine won 64-43. Reign St. Clair scored 14 points, Sam Jenkins & Tyler Rossey scored 13 points apiece and Nolan Slayer scored 11 points for the winning Chiefs.

Bellefontaine falls to 9-12 on the season and London improves to 12-7.

The Chiefs are back in action Friday night when they travel to Kenton Ridge to take on the Cougars in a CBC matchup.

The Riverside Pirates lost to Milton Union, 52-45 on Senior Night.

Gavin Orsborne led the Pirates with 13 points and 2 assists. Jaxon Woods added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the loss.

The JV team lost 50-45. They were down 41 to 23 at one point but didn’t give up.

Syler Clark led the charge with 16 points, a block, and a steal.

The Freshman also lost 44-39.

Gabe Steineman led with 15 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds

The #5 seeded Pirates will now prepare for the tournament where they will play #4 Northeastern at Troy on Thursday, February 20.

In girls tournament basketball, Benjamin Logan fell to Kettering Alter 73-23.

Leading the Raiders was Daylin Varner who scored 5 points and Aubrey Harris, Joplin Schneider, and Adilynne Gregg each added 4 points.

Molly Siefring netted 3 points for the team.

The Raiders finish the season (4-19).
