West Liberty-Salem Girls Sitting Fourth at Districts; Calvary Christian Advances


The West Liberty-Salem Girls Track and Field team is in fourth place after Day One of the DIII Southwest District held at Graham High School.

Team Scores (top 5):

1st Botkins, 22; 2nd (tied) Triad & Anna, 16; 4th WL-S, 15; 5th Cedarville, 11

The Lady Tigers 4×800 Relay team of Malia Miller, Addison McAuley, Ashley Yoder, and Mallory Bostick captured first place and a Regional berth with a new district meet record time of 9:50.13.  Also qualifying for next week’s regional meet was Lyndee Harrison in the shot put with a career PR of 31’3.

Several athletes qualified for Saturday’s finals:

  • 100 Meter Dash-Delaney Jones (12.53) and Chloe Griffith (13.22)
  • 400 Meter Dash-Mallory Bostick 1:03.54
  • 300 Meter Hurdles-Sophia Hardwick (48.39) and Claire Longshore (48.79)
  • 200 Meter Dash-Delaney Jones (26.26) and Tori Douthwaite (28.52)
  • 4×100 Meter Relay team of Tori Douthwaite, Delaney Jones, Gwen McCullough and Chloe Griffith (50.23)
  • 4×200 Meter Relay team of Tori Douthwaite, Hattie Jacobs, Claire Longshore and Gwen McCullough (1:51.66)
  • 4×400 Meter Relay team of Ashley Yoder, Gwen McCullough, Claire Longshore and Mallory Bostick (4:15.88)

Senior Lily Smith wrapped up her track and field career at WLS running a 1:12.40 in the 400 Meter Dash.

Saturday’s finals will begin at 10:00 a.m. for field events and 11:30 a.m. for running events.
