Several area volleyball teams were in action Saturday, with West Liberty-Salem earning a varsity sweep over Jackson Center, while Benjamin Logan’s middle school teams faced Troy Christian.
West Liberty-Salem 3, Jackson Center 0 — Varsity
The West Liberty-Salem Lady Tigers swept Jackson Center in three sets, winning 25-16, 25-21 and 25-16.
Reese Winters led the Tigers with 10 kills and 22 digs. Lilli Heminger also recorded 10 kills, along with three aces, four digs and a block.
Sophia Landon directed the offense with 24 assists and added 15 digs, two kills, an ace and a block.
Kiersten Stoll finished with five kills and 13 digs, while Reagan Winters added 14 digs.
Rylee Falloon had two kills, and Caroline Foster added two kills.
Jackson Center 2, West Liberty-Salem 1 — JV
The West Liberty-Salem junior varsity team fell to Jackson Center in three sets, 22-25, 25-15 and 25-18.
Bella Johnson led the Tigers with 13 assists, 11 digs and eight aces.
Paysley Wesson recorded 16 digs and an ace, while Sydney Conley added four kills, eight digs and an ace.
Baylee Cooksey finished with four kills and two digs, while Loretta Moxley added three kills.
Kendal Carroll recorded a kill and a block, and Amelia Miller added six digs.
Alissa Dixon finished with 10 digs, a kill and an ace, while Kayla Schwaderer added an ace.
West Liberty-Salem 2, Springfield Catholic Central 0 — 8th Grade
The West Liberty-Salem eighth-grade team picked up a straight-set victory over Springfield Catholic Central Saturday.
The Tigers won both sets by identical 25-15 scores.
Troy Christian 2, Benjamin Logan 0 — 7th Grade
The Benjamin Logan seventh-grade team fell to Troy Christian in straight sets, 25-12 and 25-22.
Troy Christian 2, Benjamin Logan 0 — 8th Grade
The Benjamin Logan eighth-grade team also fell to Troy Christian, 25-18 and 25-19.
