Despite a high temperature of a un-winter-like 68 degrees, visitors turned out in record numbers to the 2008 Louie Vito Rail Jam at Mad River Mountain Saturday.
The 2008 Louie Rail Jam eclipsed last year's record number of contestants by over 20% at Ohio's largest snowboarding event of the season at Mad River Mountain, in Ohio.
With a nominal entry fee of a donation of a nonperishable food item or paper product, the nearly 200 competitors helped to fill St Vincent DePaul's Food Pantry that serves those in need in Logan County. The competitors came from as far away as California.

Junior guard Justin Baughman hit a mid range jumper at the buzzer to help Bellefontaine stun visiting Tecumseh 60-59 Saturday night in varsity boys basketball.
As featured on 1390 WBLL, the CBC Kenton Trail rivals traded leads throughout the game.
The Chiefs outscored the Arrows 23-10 in the second quarter to take a 34-26 halftime lead.
Tecumseh then seized momentum in the second half by opening the third quarter with a 13-4 run to take a 39-38 lead. (Audio and video interviews included.)

There were a few high school basketball games across West Central Ohio Friday night.
In varsity girls, Benjamin Logan rolled past host Kenton 63-34.
Raiders standout guard Abby Small was injured in the first quarter.
Sarah Yoder responded and scored a team-high 17 points.
Freshman Brooke Richard dropped in 11.
Tiffany Rader and Samantha Terrill had 10 points apiece.
Benjamin Logan is 6-2 overall and 3-2 in the CBC.

The Bellefontaine varsity bowling teams defeated rival Benjamin Logan yesterday.
In varsity boys, the Chiefs beat the Raiders 2,411 to 2,315.
For Bellefontaine, Ethan Lucas rolled a 212 and a 173 for a 385 series.
Ethan Wisse fired a 185 and Jordan Vermillion added a 180.
For Benjamin Logan, Jordan Cayot had a 191 and a 201 for a 392 series.
Paul Scales had a 161 and a 195 for a 356 series.
Tylor Murray recorded a 192 and a 163 for a 355 series.

Most high school boys basketball games were postponed last night, but two Champaign County rivals were able to play.
Host West Liberty-Salem defeated Mechanicsburg 53-41 in varsity action.
Senior Nate Bratka led the Tigers with 26 points and 14 rebounds.
Sean King added 13.
WLS is 2-3 overall and 2-1 in the OHC.
The JV Tigers won 40-28.
Michael Mack scored 13 and Lucas Willis added 10.
