Urbana University point guard David Brown
The Urbana University men's basketball team scored a season-high 76 points against Tiffin University last night, but a second half surge by the Dragons proved to be too much for the Blue Knights.
After a half of play, the teams were knotted at 44. Tiffin opened with a 14-3 run to start the second half, and Urbana was unable to come back, falling 85-76 in Tiffin's Gillmor Center.
Senior guard David Brown had a career night for Urbana, scoring 30 points, grabbing 7 rebounds, and dishing 5 assists in the loss. Brown was 12-for-14 from the line.

The Urbana University basketball teams split a couple of non-league games last night.
The men's team was defeated by host Akron 81-37.
The Division I Zips raced out to a 49-13 halftime lead.
David Brown led the Blue Knights with 11.
Urbana only made 25 percent of their field goals.
The Blue Knights are 0-5; Akron is 3-1.
The Urbana University women's team handled visiting Salem International University 82-41.

The 2008 Associated Press Division III All-Ohio high school football team was announced last night.
Bellefontaine senior offensive tackle Zach Vermillion earned first team honors and Indian Lake senior wide receiver Stacy Jones was named special mention all-state.
The team is based on the recommendations of a state media panel.

Rachel Watt and Mica Hatcher capped a great season at the state meet earlier this month.
The 2008 Alliance Running All-Southwest Ohio Cross Country Team was announced on Sunday and Logan County was well represented.
On the boys side, Bellefontaine's Mica Hatcher was a first team selection in Division II.
Benjamin Logan standout Logan Leis was named special mention in Division II.
On the girls side, Indian Lake's Rachel Watt was a first team choice in Division II.

Governor Strickland
Ohio Governor Ted Strickland says the economy could make it difficult to provide an overall increase in funding for schools under his upcoming education plan.
Strickland also says it's likely his plan will be part of the two-year budget he'll present to lawmakers early next year as opposed to a separate piece of legislation.
Strickland says his plan will include classroom changes and a fix of the state's current school-funding system.
