An 18-year-old Urbana woman was seriously injured in a crash Wednesday night involving a tractor in rural Bellefontaine, according to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened on County Road 1, near Township Road 55, just after 10 p.m., when Kaitlyn Brown, 18, was traveling southbound in a 2001 Chevrolet Suburban and struck a Case IH tractor that was pulling a planter going the opposite direction.
The tractor was operated by Stephen Schlumbohm, 77, of DeGraff.
Brown sustained serious injuries and was transported by Life Flight to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton for treatment.
She and one of her passengers, Jessica Sutton, 38, of Urbana, had to be extricated from the vehicle by mechanical means due to the extent of the damage.
Sutton was not injured, nor was the second passenger, Kion Hill, 44, also of Urbana.
According to deputies, both passengers refused to provide statements about the accident when questioned at the scene.
Schlumbohm was not injured.
The Logan County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation remains ongoing, and citations may be pending as further details are gathered.
