Raiders claim conference supremacy at CBC Track & Field Championships

Indian Lake High School boys track and field finished third Friday night at the Central Buckeye Conference Championships at Jonathan Alder High School, while Benjamin Logan High School captured the Mad River Division title.

Benjamin Logan Boys – CBC Mad River Division Champions (125 points)

The Raiders put together a dominant all-around performance, scoring in 16 of 17 events to win the Mad River Division title with 125 points ahead of North Union (109), Indian Lake (92), and Springfield Shawnee (91).

Benjamin Logan was led by junior Gavin Jordan, who captured the 800-meter conference championship in a personal-record time of 2:05.88.

The Raiders also claimed a league title and set a new Mad River Division record in the 4×200 relay as Cooper Buck, Davis Matthews, Carter Buck, and Wyatt Predmore crossed the finish line in 1:32.94.

Carter Daniels added another championship performance Tuesday night, winning pole vault with a new meet and school record clearance of 15-6.

Benjamin Logan’s 4×800 relay team of Gavin Jordan, Brock Henry, Luke Vesley, and Tyler Shoopman also earned a conference title while setting a new Mad River Division meet record in 8:33.23.

Roman Maxwell had a strong meet for the Raiders, finishing second in high jump with a personal-record leap of 6-0 while also placing third in long jump at 20-3.5.

Additional scoring performances included Cooper Buck placing third in both the 110 hurdles (16.91 PR) and 300 hurdles (41.84 PR), Tyler Shoopman finishing third in the 400 (52.56 PR), and Greyson Butler taking third in the 3200 (10:56.75 PR).

Wyatt Predmore added third-place finishes in the 200 (24.06) and fifth in the 100 (11.94), while Carter Buck placed fourth in both the 100 (11.83) and 200 (24.07).

Other scoring efforts included Brock Henry (fourth, 800), Davis Matthews (fourth, 400), Greyson Butler (fourth, 1600), Luke Vesley (fifth, 3200), Gus Bibart (sixth, discus), and the 4×400 relay team of Tyler Shoopman, Cooper Buck, Gavin Jordan, and Davis Matthews, which placed second in 3:33.98.

The Raiders will next compete at the Southwest District meet at Graham High School Tuesday and Saturday.

Benjamin Logan Girls – CBC Mad River Division Champions (138 points)

The Benjamin Logan girls edged Springfield Shawnee by just two points to capture the Mad River Division championship with 138 points. North Union finished third with 85.5, followed by Indian Lake with 61.

Abby Vance led the Lady Raiders with an outstanding performance, winning conference championships in the 100-meter dash (13.26), 200-meter dash (26.05), and long jump (17-6.25).

Benjamin Logan also earned a relay championship in the 4×100 as Daylin Varner, Storm LeVan, Scarlett Elliott, and Abby Vance combined for a winning time of 52.39.

The Lady Raiders added several runner-up finishes, including the 4×800 relay team of Elliott Butler, Lucy Wenger, Peyton Smith, and Lottie Bodin (10:51.70), the 4×200 relay team of Daylin Varner, Adelina Ramsey, Scarlett Elliott, and Aleah France (1:53.39), and the 4×400 relay team of Peyton Smith, Lauren Kennedy, Daylin Varner, and Aleah France (4:22.68).

Individual runner-up performances included Madi Oakes in high jump (4-8), Scarlett Elliott in pole vault (9-6), Autumn Cline in shot put (32-4.5), and Kyla Godwin in discus (107-4).

Additional scoring came from Storm LeVan, who placed fourth in the 300 hurdles (52.63) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (19.38), while Sarah Miller placed fifth in the 300 hurdles (54.66) and sixth in the 100 hurdles (19.46).

Lucy Wenger added a fifth-place finish in the 1600 (6:08.59) and fifth in the 800 (2:47.09), while Peyton Smith finished sixth in the 1600 (6:18.16) and Elliott Butler took fourth in the 800 (2:46.64).

Aleah France placed fourth in the 400 (1:05.51), Lauren Kennedy was sixth in the 400 (1:06.68), Molly Siefring finished fourth in the 3200 (13:35.51), Gwen Smith placed sixth in the 3200 (14:08.08), and Joplin Schneider added a fourth-place finish in high jump (4-6).

Kaylee Hays also scored in both throwing events, placing third in discus (106-11) and seventh in shot put (28-4.5).

Lily Studebaker received the CBC Sportsmanship Award for Benjamin Logan.

The Lady Raiders earned multiple all-conference honors, including first-team recognition for Abby Vance and the 4×100 relay team of Daylin Varner, Storm LeVan, Scarlett Elliott, and Abby Vance.

Indian Lake Boys – Third Place (92 points)

The Lakers finished third overall with 92 points behind Benjamin Logan and North Union.

Gavin Henry turned in one of the top performances of the meet, winning the 110-meter hurdles in a meet-record time of 15.26 before adding another conference championship in the 300 hurdles at 40.98.

Aidan Stinebaugh also captured a league title for Indian Lake, winning the 400-meter run in a personal-record time of 51.51.

The Lakers added another championship in the 4×400 relay as Silas Holbrook, Aidan Stinebaugh, Will Faler, and Kade Richardson combined to win in 3:32.

Indian Lake collected runner-up finishes from Christopher Timms in shot put (50-4.5), Silas Holbrook in the 400 (52.22 PR), and the 4×200 relay team of Kade Richardson, Wes Campbell, Gavin Henry, and Noah Shirk (1:35).

Additional scoring came from Will Faler, who placed fifth in the 800 (2:10 PR), along with the 4×100 relay team of Gavin Henry, Noah Shirk, Kade Richardson, and Wes Campbell, which also finished fifth in 49.35.

Wes Campbell added a sixth-place finish in the 200 (24.09), while Blake Sell finished sixth in high jump at 5-6.

Indian Lake Girls – Fourth Place (61 points)

The Indian Lake girls team placed fourth overall with 61 points. Benjamin Logan won the girls team title with 138 points, followed by Springfield Shawnee (136) and North Union (85.5).

Addison Beck led the Lakers with a second-place finish in the 100-meter dash (13.41) while also placing third in both long jump (16-9) and the 200-meter dash (26.84).

Laura Metzger added a third-place finish in the 3200-meter run with a personal-record time of 12:47.

Additional scoring came from Kayleigh Taylor, who finished fifth in the 3200 (13:58), the 4×100 relay team of Diem Martin, Piper Warnecke, Maddie Leiss-Breakey, and Adriana Andres, which placed fifth in 55.68, and the 4×400 relay team of Mary Archer, Diem Martin, Rae Klofta, and Karsyn Newkirk, which also finished fifth in 4:49.

Piper Warnecke added a sixth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 29.02.

Indian Lake will next compete in the OHSAA district championships at Graham High School Tuesday and Saturday.
