Firefighters with the Urbana Fire Division responded to a reported house fire in the 1000 block of South High Street at approximately 6:37 p.m. on Wednesday.
When crews arrived on scene just a few minutes later, they found smoke coming from the residence and upgraded the incident to a working fire. Firefighters quickly entered the home and began an interior attack, bringing the fire under control within minutes.
The fire was successfully contained to the room where it started, preventing it from spreading to the rest of the home.
One occupant was evaluated at the scene for injuries related to the incident. No additional injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and officials are continuing to assess the extent of the damage.
The Urbana Fire Division recalled off-duty personnel to help maintain emergency coverage during the incident. Assistance was provided by the West Liberty Fire Department, JSP Fire Department, Macochee Joint Ambulance District, Champaign County Dispatch, and Box 13.
