The City of Bellefontaine has once again been recognized for its commitment to urban forestry, earning the title of Tree City USA for the 46th time.

City officials received the honor during the Central Ohio Tree City USA awards ceremony hosted by Springfield earlier this month.

The awards were presented by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Forestry to communities and campuses across the region that have demonstrated strong efforts in tree management and conservation.

During the ceremony, keynote presentations were given by John Gall and Pam Bennett, who spoke about the evolution of Springfield’s urban forestry program and the long-term benefits of tree planting.

Bellefontaine received the designation for its continued work to maintain and improve quality of life through a comprehensive tree management program led by the city’s Shade Tree Commission and municipal government.

The Tree City USA program is administered by the Arbor Day Foundation.
