The Bellefontaine City Schools Board of Education met in regular session Tuesday night and approved a resolution to place a 1% Income Tax on the November ballot. If the measure is approved by voters, the tax will be levied beginning January 1, 2027, and will continue indefinitely.
The tax is necessary to cover the district’s operating expenses, as the State of Ohio has changed how property taxes are distributed to districts statewide.
District Superintendent Brad Hall discusses the importance of the tax:
District Treasurer Josh Wasson must now submit a certified copy of the resolution to the Logan County Board of Elections.
Treasurer Wasson also submitted the amended District Five-Year Forecast to the board for their approval. The amendments were necessary because the district received the State of Ohio fiscal plan after the May meeting. According to Wasson, the adjustments reflected changed funding amounts from the state.
The board also approved several other financial reports, including a supplemental appropriation resolution for FY 26 and a temporary appropriation resolution for FY 27, which will allow the district to spend funds at the beginning of the new fiscal year.
The board also approved several personnel recommendations from Superintendent Hall, including resignations of professional and support personnel, administrative appointments, and several contract renewals.
In addition, several sports coaching appointments were approved by the board.
