Benjamin Logan Updates School Calendar at Special Meeting

The Benjamin Logan Board of Education held a special meeting on Monday, July 31. The BOE approved a revised 2023-2024 school calendar which reflects “no school” on April 8, 2024, due to the Solar Eclipse.
 
In other action, an Asphalt Bid Package was approved, awarding bids to Byrne & Jones Construction for the football complex area and Superior Seal Coating for the elementary school playground.
 
The school board affirmed its participation in the joint cooperative purchasing program (Sourcewell) and approved a proposal from Musco Sports Lighting, LLC for a light bulb replacement and repairs project paid for out of the general fund.
 
A proposal from Farnham Equipment Company (Sourcewell) for bleacher repairs throughout the district was also approved out of the general fund.
 
A motion to approve a contract with Renier Custom Construction Corp. was voted on for the band tower project also to be paid out of the general fund.

The BOE approved a $100 stipend for the listed individuals who will be attending the required ALICE training for new staff.

The board approved the reassignment of the listed staff beginning the 2023-2024 school year.

  • Barb Kensler- HS Food Service worker an additional hour per day (total of 6 hours per day)
  • Rebecca Peterson- ES Food Service worker an additional hour per day (total of 5 hours per day)
The following individuals were approved for athletic supplemental contracts for the 2023-2024 school year:
  • Cheer Coach Football JV HS– Sage Caughenbaugh 2 {BOE 7/31/2023}
  • Golf Coach Boys HS– Ryan Knight -Volunteer
  • Golf Coach Girls HS – James Bramlage -Volunteer
The BOE entered Executive Session at 6:25 PM for the purpose of Item A: the appointment, employment, dismissal, discipline, promotion, demotion, or compensation of an employee or official, or the investigation of charges or complaints against an employee, official, licensee or student, unless the employee, official, licensee or student requests a public hearing.
