The Bellefontaine City Schools Gifted Department hosted the Reading Olympics in the Distance Learning Center on Thursday.
The trio of ladies that called themselves the Sweet Team walked away with a sweet victory.

Runners-up were the Art is Smart team.

The Champ Boys finished in 3rd.

26 Bellefontaine Elementary School second graders qualified for the annual event out of 60 participants.
Students spend a few months reading from a list of books chosen by the BCS Gifted Department and must produce a summary of the story that can be used during the competition.
The event is organized by Gifted Intervention Specialist Lindy Martin. She was assisted by Gifted Intervention Specialist Katie Davis and parent volunteer Cassidy Miller.
The challenge was created by Cathy Wiley and has been in existence for 28 years.
