Urbana High School has announced its April Seniors of the Month for 2026, Lacie Cayten, Jesslyn Puckett, and Evan Upchurch.

Lacie Cayten

School activities and awards: Soccer (Athletic Council, Core Values Award), Softball, DECA (3rd place state, qualified for ICDC), PBIS, Climbers Singers, and Musical.

If I were principal for a day: I would take a vacation day, because running the school sounds stressful.

Favorite school memory: Participating in the Community Awareness project for DECA and helping host the school’s annual Mental Health Fair.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My parents and my grandpa and grandma Fultons, because of their hard work, kindness, and dedication to helping others.

Lately, I have been reading: The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.

My advice to parents: Be there for your kids and show up—it really means a lot.

My biggest regret: Not getting more involved during my underclassman years.

Next year: Attending Clark State to major in Health Sciences before transferring to continue my education.

Jesslyn Puckett

School activities and awards: YMCA Lifeguard, Varsity Captain Football & Basketball Cheerleader, Gameday Competition Cheerleader, Concert Band, French Club, Art I & II, Honor Roll (High Honors), and selected for the Wittenberg Honors Program.

If I were principal for a day: Make homework illegal.

Favorite school memory: Going to Kings Island for Ms. Arnett’s class.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My mom, for always being strong and my best friend.

Lately, I have been reading: The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd.

My advice to parents: Understand when your kid needs a break and check on their mental health.

My biggest regret: Not joining more sports.

Next year: Attending Wittenberg University to cheer while majoring in political science.

Evan Upchurch

School activities and awards: Urbana Football, National Honor Society, DECA, DECA Officer, ICDC qualifier, and All-Year Honor Roll.

If I were principal for a day: Bring in donuts for students and staff members.

Favorite school memory: Playing euchre at DECA competitions and in class.

People who have been an inspiration to me include: My parents.

Lately, I have been reading: The Other Wes Moore.

My advice to parents: Push your kids in sports, school, or activities they enjoy so they can achieve their goals.

My biggest regret: Not being more involved in school spirit during my freshman and sophomore years.

Next year: Attending Bowling Green State University to major in accounting.
