The West Central Ohio Community Concert Band (WCOCCB) held its annual holiday concert at the Holland Theater Tuesday evening. In front of a packed house, the 61-member band entertained the crowd with classic holiday music, including Jingle Bells, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas & it’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

The WCOCCB began in 1991 to provide a group for adults to continue enjoying and sharing their musical abilities. The WCOCCB is open to all adult musicians who are in high school, or older. Past years have included members ranging in age from 18 to 80 in all types of occupations. The WCOCCB wishes to attract members who love music, regularly attend rehearsals and concerts, and who enjoy playing a wide variety of music, including marches, show tunes, overtures, big band melodies, and much more. Their mission statement is: “To provide a creative outlet for amateur and semi-professional musicians in the West Central Ohio area and to further enhance cultural enrichment for the community.”  The WCOCCB is always accepting new members. They can be contacted on their Facebook page, West Central Ohio Community Concert Band or by email at [email protected] .

WCOCCB director, Myles Bowers comments, “It doesn’t get much better than performing locally at a beautiful historic theatre. The Holland provides a wonderful setting for our band to perform each year. I’m thankful for the relationship that we have with the Holland Theatre and the community support we receive is overwhelmingly positive, as could be seen by a packed house Tuesday. Seeing musicians of all ages come together to share their gift shows that we have a bright future here in our community. The arts bring communities together and I couldn’t be prouder of the work that our Logan County Art Center, in collaboration with local businesses and artists, do to showcase our local talent. The West Central Ohio Community Concert Band is moving into its 3rd decade of existence and I couldn’t be more excited to continue to offer the community quality concert experiences!”
