A driver was cited after authorities say a vehicle left the roadway, drove onto a baseball field, and struck a backstop before leaving the scene Saturday night in Belle Center.
According to the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called just after 10:00 p.m. to Richland Township Park on School Street in Belle Center.
Investigators say a 2007 Buick Rendezvous, driven by 35-year-old Erica McCarthy, left the roadway, drove onto the park’s baseball diamond, and crashed into the chain-link backstop.
The report says McCarthy left the scene before deputies arrived. She was later located and issued a citation for failure to control.
Authorities believe alcohol use was a factor in the crash.
No other details were released.
