The skies over Dayton will roar to life this weekend as the annual Dayton Air Show returns to Dayton International Airport on Saturday, June 13, and Sunday, June 14.

As always, the stars of the show are the aircraft and the pilots who push them to their limits.

Headlining this year’s event are the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, who will bring their F/A-18 Super Hornets to the skies above the birthplace of aviation.

Fans can also expect a variety of military aircraft demonstrations, including dual F-22 Raptors, whose powerful engines are known for shaking the ground and turning heads wherever they fly.

A massive C-17 Globemaster cargo plane will also take to the air, performing maneuvers many would never expect from an aircraft of its size.

The excitement won’t be limited to the skies.

Visitors will have the opportunity to get up close to several military aircraft on static display, including a B-52 Stratofortress from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.

Other aircraft on display are expected to include F-35 fighters, an F-16, a C-5M Super Galaxy, a KC-135 Stratotanker, and more.

Show organizers say one noticeable change this year will be the addition of several large video screens positioned throughout the grounds.

The monitors will allow visitors to watch the action and hear radio communications while exploring the exhibits and aircraft displays.

Parking lots will open at 8 a.m. both days, with gates opening at 9 a.m.

Flying demonstrations are expected to begin around 10 a.m., weather and aircraft maintenance permitting.

Shiela Wallace, Media Relations, CenterPoint Energy Dayton Air Show, talks about the show:

If you’re headed to the show, drivers should expect heavy traffic around the airport and are encouraged to allow extra travel time.

General admission parking can be accessed by taking the Northwoods Boulevard exit from Interstate 75 and following event signage.

The Dayton Air Show continues to be one of Ohio’s premier summer events, drawing aviation enthusiasts from across the region to celebrate military aviation, aerobatic performances, and the rich aviation history of the Miami Valley.
