Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post responded to two separate crashes in Champaign County over the weekend. One crash left a driver with minor injuries, while the other resulted in an impaired driving charge.
The first crash happened around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at the intersection of State Route 54 and Pisgah Road in Urbana Township.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Brenda Brown, 63, of Springfield, was driving a 2006 Honda CR-V north on State Route 54 when she failed to yield at a stop sign and entered the intersection. Her SUV was struck by a 2025 Toyota RAV4 driven by Terry Johnson, 68, of Urbana, who was traveling east through the intersection.
After the impact, the Honda left the roadway and crashed into a utility pole.
Brown was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Troopers found she was at fault for the crash and cited her for failing to yield at a stop sign. Johnson was not injured.
The second crash occurred around 4:33 p.m. on Sunday, July 19, on Children’s Home Road, west of Dugan Road in Urbana Township.
Troopers said Pamela Roosa, 64, of Urbana, was driving a Chrysler when she rear-ended a Honda Pilot driven by Andrew Vactor, 42, of Urbana. Both vehicles were traveling on Children’s Home Road at the time of the crash.
No injuries were reported.
During the investigation, troopers determined Roosa was impaired. She was cited for operating a vehicle while impaired (OVI) and failure to maintain an assured clear distance ahead (ACDA).
Both crashes remain under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Springfield Post.
