Cayde Neeley, 26, of DeGraff, is facing two fourth-degree felony charges after a reported domestic dispute.
According to a Bellefontaine Police report, officers were called to the 800 block of Heritage Court around 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Police spoke with the victim, who reported that Neeley and the victim had been involved in a verbal argument earlier in the week.
The victim told police Neeley broke an ornament inside the residence and was told to leave.
The victim said they then picked up a phone and began dialing 911 while holding an 8-month-old child.
According to the report, the victim claimed Neeley slapped the phone from their hand, pushed them to the ground while they were still holding the child, and kicked the phone away when the victim attempted to retrieve it.
The victim also reported that Neeley grabbed their arm and later took the child.
The victim told police Neeley threatened that if police were called, he would go to prison.
Police later found Neeley at a County Road 1 residence.
During questioning, Neeley initially described the incident as a verbal disagreement and denied that anything physical had occurred.
Neeley admitted he had swatted an ornament, causing it to break, but said it was accidental.
He also acknowledged touching the victim’s arm and described the contact as a “nudge.”
Neeley claimed the victim then fell intentionally.
Neeley was arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail.
According to police, a review of Neeley’s court records showed a prior assault conviction from 2023.
Neeley was charged with fourth-degree felony domestic violence and fourth-degree felony disrupting public services.
