Nearly a year and a half after first taking office, Logan County Commissioner Greg Fitzpatrick continues settling into his role while bringing decades of public service experience to county government.
Fitzpatrick officially launched his campaign for Logan County Commissioner ahead of the March 2024 primary election, promoting a long history of community involvement and public safety service throughout the county.
A lifelong Belle Center resident and 1981 graduate of Benjamin Logan High School, Fitzpatrick previously served as a Richland Township Trustee before being elected commissioner.
Much of his career was spent in law enforcement.
Fitzpatrick worked for 30 years with the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, serving not only as a deputy, but also as jail administrator and juvenile detention center administrator.
He also spent four years on the Buckeye State Sheriffs’ Association Corrections Committee.
Beyond law enforcement, Fitzpatrick devoted decades to emergency services in the Belle Center area.
He volunteered for 25 years with the Richland Township Fire Department, eventually retiring as assistant fire chief in 2006.
He also served 12 years as an emergency medical technician with the BMRT Ambulance District.
Community service has remained a major part of Fitzpatrick’s life outside government as well.
He has volunteered with the Belle Center Fireworks Committee for more than four decades and remains active in the community and his church, First United Presbyterian Church in Bellefontaine.
Since taking office as commissioner, Fitzpatrick has been involved in county discussions surrounding infrastructure improvements, economic development, budgeting, and emergency management initiatives.
Fitzpatrick joined April King on 98.3 WPKO’s show, Listen Up! Sunday morning:
Supporters say his background in public safety and local government has helped provide practical experience in county decision-making, while his longtime roots in Logan County give him a strong understanding of the community’s needs.
Fitzpatrick and his wife, Patricia, are parents to five children and grandparents to eight grandchildren.
