Indian Lake Schools Unveil Tornado Memorial Sculpture

Indian Lake School administrators have unveiled a poignant memorial sculpture honoring the victims and resilience following the March 14th tornado. The striking metal piece is now displayed just outside the Indian Lake High School Auditorium doors.

The decision to install the sculpture in this high-traffic area was made after careful consideration. It serves as a gathering point for families attending performances and sporting events. Notably, many community members first learned of the tornado warning during a mini-musical performance by second graders at Indian Lake Elementary School that night. Some families even sought shelter at the high school during the storm.

The installation was made possible thanks to the dedication of the maintenance staff, who cleared the space, painted the wall, and hung the sculpture. Special thanks go to Brian Davis of Dovetail Metal Sign and Design for creating and donating this lasting tribute, which symbolizes the strength and adaptability of the Lakers community in the face of adversity.

Visitors to the campus are encouraged to take a moment to view this meaningful piece and reflect on the resilience of the Indian Lake community.
