Two women were arrested early Saturday morning after police responded to a report of a fight at the Heritage Court Apartments in Bellefontaine.

According to the Bellefontaine Police Department, officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Heritage Court at about 2:30 a.m. after a caller reported that six people were fighting and that one person had a taser.

When officers arrived, they were directed to the rear of the apartment building, where they found Shaylee Johnston and Raylynn Taylor.

Police said Johnston initially refused commands to put down her purse.

When an officer asked where the taser was, she told police it was inside her purse before tossing the pink taser toward officers.

She was then taken into custody.

Officers reported Johnston showed several signs of intoxication.

Taylor told officers the group had been at a friend’s apartment before an argument broke out after several uninvited people were found inside.

She said the disagreement continued outside, where Johnston threatened to use the taser during the confrontation.

Police spoke with several other people involved, who said the argument escalated after the group returned from Taco Bell and found three unknown men inside the apartment.

After the men left, another argument broke out, eventually moving outside.

Witnesses told officers Johnston chased another person with the taser, but no one was shocked.

While speaking with Taylor, officers also noticed signs of intoxication.

Taylor admitted she had been drinking and told officers she was “a little drunk.”

Police determined that both Johnston and Taylor, who are each 20 years old, had consumed alcohol while underage.

They were both arrested and transported to the Logan County Jail on charges of underage alcohol consumption.

The taser was collected and placed into evidence for safekeeping.

No additional charges were reported.
