A Logan County resident is among 30 law enforcement leaders from across Ohio who recently graduated from the 13th Ohio Public Safety Leadership Academy.

Lieutenant Jeremy Allen of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Piqua Post completed the 11-week leadership program, which is designed to prepare experienced law enforcement officers for advanced leadership roles within their agencies.

Allen, a 1995 Benjamin Logan High School graduate, Benjamin Logan High School baseball coach, and Logan County resident, has served with the Ohio State Highway Patrol for nearly 26 years.

“Anytime I get a chance to further my education, I am going to,” Allen said. “This has been invaluable.”

The academy is a partnership between the Ohio Department of Public Safety, the Ohio State Highway Patrol, and The Ohio State University’s John Glenn College of Public Affairs.

Participants completed 276 hours of college-level instruction focused on leadership, community engagement, public administration, and current issues facing law enforcement.

Graduates earned a leadership certificate and 10 hours of academic credit through Ohio State University.

Throughout the program, officers met with executive-level law enforcement leaders and explored topics including building stronger relationships with communities, addressing the mental and emotional challenges of policing, and recruiting and retaining future law enforcement professionals.

The class also traveled to Washington, D.C., and the Flight 93 National Memorial in Pennsylvania during National Police Week.

Additional training included visits to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and participation in a community outreach project with the Mid-Ohio Food Collective.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Superintendent Colonel Charles A. Jones and Dr. Stephanie Moulton, dean of The Ohio State University John Glenn College of Public Affairs, congratulated the graduates during a recent ceremony.

State officials said the academy continues to strengthen law enforcement agencies across Ohio by preparing experienced officers for greater leadership responsibilities while emphasizing professionalism, community engagement, and public service.
