Logan County has a long history of people living in it, dating as far back as the Paleolithic Era in 13,000 B.C.

The history of this valuable hunting land from its native inhabitants to the European settlers who pushed through its development can all be seen and enjoyed at the Logan County History Center on East Columbus Avenue in Bellefontaine.

Todd McCormick is the director and curator of the Logan County History Center. He says agriculture and the railroad are the keys to Bellefontaine’s development.

At the History Center, visitors can enjoy the Logan County Museum, the Transportation Museum, and the Orr Mansion… a beautiful restoration of the home of William Orr who owned several local lumber yards in the early 1900s.

The Logan County History Center and accompanying museums are open from 1 to 4 PM Wednesday through Sunday.
