Just in time for Memorial Day, the City of Bellefontaine has added new red, white, and blue lighting to the city’s veterans memorial.
The memorial sits along Allison Road near the intersection of East Williams Avenue, across from the Bellefontaine Cemetery.
The city’s “jack of all trades,” Joseph Jackson, spent much of Tuesday installing the upgraded lighting at the memorial site.
The project came after local veterans expressed interest in improving the lighting around the memorial with brighter and more noticeable fixtures.
Jackson worked with the veterans to select the new fixtures, which were paid for by the veterans themselves.
The new patriotic lighting is designed to better highlight the memorial and honor local veterans during Memorial Day observances and throughout the year.
The memorial is illuminated from dusk to dawn.
