ODOT crews continue to make progress on the new roundabout at the U.S. 33 and State Route 274 intersection just outside Huntsville.
Asphalt work is expected to begin next week, weather permitting.
ODOT expects the westbound lanes of State Route 274 to reopen by mid to late September.
The roundabout is expected to be completed by late fall, well ahead of the winter season, as long as weather and construction conditions cooperate.
Once finished, the new roundabout is expected to improve traffic flow and safety at the busy intersection.
For now, drivers are reminded to slow down, watch for signs and construction workers, and use extra caution while traveling through the work zone.
