Two people were arrested after Bellefontaine Police responded twice to reports of intoxicated and disorderly behavior in Bellefontaine Saturday night.
According to the report, officers were first dispatched around 8:30 p.m. to the intersection of Railroad Street and Troy Road for two intoxicated pedestrians.
Officers identified the individuals as Jerrod Kerns, 57, of Bellefontaine, and 50-year-old Sandra Stein, also of Bellefontaine.
Kerns reportedly had a strong odor of alcoholic beverages, slurred speech, and was not wearing a shirt or shoes.
Officers warned both Kerns and Stein for disorderly conduct and told them they would be arrested if officers had to return.
About an hour later, officers were dispatched to North West Street after a report of someone yelling for help.
Officers again encountered Kerns and Stein near their residence.
According to the report, Kerns continued yelling and arguing with officers and refused multiple requests to go inside.
Officers also reported that he appeared intoxicated and was holding what appeared to be a beer can.
Kerns eventually approached an officer and reportedly raised his arm toward the officer’s face.
The officer grabbed Kerns’ wrist and told him he was under arrest.
Kerns reportedly pulled away and attempted to run toward his residence before the officer took him to the ground.
Additional officers arrived and helped place Kerns in handcuffs.
Stein also reportedly refused multiple orders to return inside the residence.
She was then arrested for persistent disorderly conduct.
Both Kerns and Stein were transported to the Logan County Jail.
Kerns was booked on charges of persistent disorderly conduct and resisting arrest, while Stein was booked on persistent disorderly conduct.
