The Riverside Board of Education met in a brief regular session Tuesday evening.
Riverside Schools received a 4-star rating from the Ohio School Report Card.
Superintendent Dr. Scott Mann gives his thoughts on the rating and how the district is proud of its students:
Makayla Brandyberry is a senior who has been battling osteosarcoma.
Currently hospitalized, she’s currently unable to be at school, and the district held a Spirit Week in her honor.

Collins Writing is a district-wide initiative to improve student’s writing performance.
This week, Collins Writing professionals are coming to the elementary.
Professionals will be at the high school next week.
Growth from the student’s writing abilities will improve from this program.

The board moved on to approve several items:
- The Substitute Classified List
- The Certified Substitute Teacher and Classified Substitute Para Pro List
- Supplemental payments to the following for Speech Language Pathologists for the county unit – Erica Heitkamp (three students) and Katie Hodge (three students)
- Resignation of the 7th-grade Girls Basketball Coach, Randy Tyler, for the 2023-2024 contracted year
- Resignation of the 8th-grade Boys Basketball Coach, Hunter Kreglow, for the 2023-2024 contracted year
- The Virtual Education Delivery Plan as directed by District Bylaws and Policies
- The resolution to make provisional changes to board policies, administrative guidelines, and forms to comply with HB33
- The updated Neola District Bylaws and Policies
- Accepted the amounts and rates as determined by the budget commission authorized the necessary tax levies and certified them to the county auditor resolution as submitted by the Logan County Auditor
- Permanent appropriations for fiscal year 2024
- Sale of the trailer and any contents (office furniture) that will no longer be used on publicsurplus.com
- Accepted a donation from Sandi Short for $500 to help with school lunches from the Grace for Kids fund
- Setup and use of the Athletic Facilities Capital Project Fund to set aside funds for the track replacement in the coming years
Employed the following on a one-year limited supplemental contract for the following 2023-2024 positions per the adopted salary schedule:

Approved the following out-of-state trips for the 2023-2024 school year
- FFA will be traveling to Indianapolis, Indiana for National Conference on November 1-3, 2023
- BPA will be traveling to Chicago for their BPA National Conference on May 9-14, 2024
