Junior and senior girls at Riverside High School recently spent time at YMCA Camp Willson building friendships, gaining confidence, and making memories during the school’s biennial retreat.

Students who attended said the experience helped them feel more connected to their classmates and school while encouraging them to believe in themselves and support one another.

The retreat began Sunday evening with guest speaker MaryBeth Motasem, who led the group in an opening gathering and time for reflection.

On Monday, Katie Rychener spoke with the students and led small-group activities focused on self-worth.

The girls were encouraged to recognize their strengths, understand their value, and lift each other up.

The retreat also included outdoor activities, giving students a chance to try new things and work together.

They climbed a rock wall, went on guided nature hikes, and took part in team-building challenges.

In the evenings, students and staff spent time together in their cabins, talking and getting to know one another better.

The time away from everyday distractions gave the girls an opportunity to share their thoughts, build trust, and strengthen friendships.

The retreat is held every two years and is designed to help junior and senior girls grow personally and build stronger relationships as they prepare for their final years of high school.
