In a special meeting Tuesday night, the Riverside Board of Education voted to approve an amendment to the initial project cost for a new activities facility. The board had previously authorized the construction of a new fieldhouse and activity center on the campus.

From the district press release: “This complex is a game-changer for Riverside Local Schools,” said Scott Mann, Superintendent of Riverside Local Schools. “Our student-athletes and physical education programs will benefit tremendously from these upgraded facilities, and we are excited to see the impact it will have on our district and the surrounding community…. This is more than just an athletic facility; it’s an investment in the future of Riverside athletics and our students’ development.”

This meeting approved a change to the project’s Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP). The amendment came after the total cost had been analyzed by the contractor for the project, H.A. Dorsten, Inc. By approving the new GMP, the project will continue as planned.

Construction Management Resources (CMR) submitted its proposal for GMP Amendment No. 2 for the remainder of the Project in the amount of $3,798,957.68 plus $224,142.58 in alternates for a grand total of $4,023,100.26.

Part of the agreement also allows $300,000.00 in contingency funds to be set aside in the event Garmann Miller, the architect, needs to make any changes to the plans.
