The Indian Lake Board of Education began exploring whether to issue bond refunds from the construction of the Elementary School at its meeting on Monday night. According to District Treasurer Brady Hipsher, the board must decide on the refunding measure beginning in early September.
In the event the interest rate is favorable, the district may decide to move forward with the measure, which will ultimately save district taxpayers money in the form of reduced interest paid on the bond, according to Hipsher.
In other board action, District Superintendent Dr. Rob Underwood urged the board to approve the Preschool Special Education Agreement with the Logan County Board of Developmental Disabilities (LCBDD) for August 24 through December 31, 2026.
Dr. Underwood said that the dates for this agreement cover the first semester only, as the LCBDD has an operating levy for the voters to consider in November. He said if the levy passes, the board can extend the agreement to cover the second semester.
In the event the levy fails, the district will be forced to cover the entire cost of the preschool for the remainder of the year. Dr. Underwood discusses the agreement:
