Andrea (Thomas) Russell, a 1989 graduate of Triad High School, has been selected as a 2026 Distinguished Alumni honoree by the Triad High School Alumni Association. She will be formally recognized at the Alumni Banquet on Saturday, June 20 at 4 p.m. at the high school.

Russell’s career spans more than 30 years in cosmetology and over 25 years as a small business owner. In 1999, she co-founded TommyBrooks Salon in downtown Urbana and has served as owner and operator since 2000. The salon has operated with a booth rental model, providing opportunities for independent stylists to build their own businesses in a collaborative setting.

Throughout her career, Russell has also been actively involved in community support efforts across Urbana and the Triad school district. Her contributions have included donations, sponsorships, and fundraising support for school programs such as athletics, DECA, prom events, and various student initiatives. She has also supported the Champaign County Fair, livestock sales, scholarships, and community benefit events.

In addition to her business and charitable work, Russell has played a role in downtown Urbana development through her involvement with the Monument Square District. During her time on the board, she helped support events such as the 2019 Christmas Gala, which raised more than $9,000 for downtown initiatives.

The Alumni Association said Russell was selected for her professional accomplishments, leadership, and long-standing commitment to community service.
