September is Hunger Action Month, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Clark, Champaign, and Logan Counties will hold its 6th Annual Harvest Breakfast on Friday, September 18, from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts & Conference Center in Springfield.

This year’s theme is “Beyond the Meal: Stories that Nourish Us.” The event will feature keynote speaker Kevin Rose, historian at the Turner Foundation, along with a spoken-word performance by poet and storyteller Laurent Che.

The breakfast is free, with advance registration requested. A complimentary breakfast buffet will be provided.

Second Harvest is also working to reach a $20,000 matching donation goal. Donations supporting the Harvest Breakfast will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $20,000, thanks to a generous donor.
