Ohio State Senator Susan Manchester joined the Logan County Chamber of Commerce for a Business Impact Meeting Wednesday morning at Mary Rutan Health in Bellefontaine.
Manchester discussed issues facing Ohio residents, including affordability, rising health care costs, gas prices, and the overall cost of living.
She also highlighted work underway at the Statehouse as lawmakers approach the final quarter of 2026.
Manchester, who serves on the Ohio Senate Health Committee, emphasized the need for accessible and affordable health care.
She also discussed a health care plan she previously worked on through the Farm Bureau.
The plan pools participants to help lower costs and, according to Manchester, has saved participants thousands of dollars a year.
She also addressed the financial burden of emergency room visits and how unexpected medical expenses can quickly lead to medical debt.
Manchester is currently working on two bills at the state level:
Manchester also discussed Ohio’s flat income tax rate and state revenue, noting that the state is bringing in more revenue than anticipated.
She described herself as a supporter of limited government and free-market principles, saying she wants to find ways to address affordability for Ohio residents.
With the Senate approaching its lame-duck session, Manchester said lawmakers are working quickly to move legislation forward during the final months of 2026.
At the close of the meeting, she again stressed the importance of voting and encouraged residents to participate in the upcoming election.
