Two-vehicle crash shuts down U.S. 33 Thursday afternoon

A serious injury accident shut down eastbound traffic on U.S. Route 33 at the intersection of County Road 57 on Thursday afternoon shortly after 1:30 p.m., prompting a large emergency response and reports of multiple injuries.

According to early reports from the scene, two vehicles were involved in the crash.

The crash was handled by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

Indian Lake EMS, Bellefontaine EMS, BMRT Ambulance District, and Huntsville Fire transported four patients in total.

Three patients were taken to Lima Memorial Hospital, while one patient was transported to Mary Rutan Hospital.

One patient is reported to be elderly and was experiencing chest pains.

A cat was also located inside one of the vehicles and is now in the custody of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office.

The roadway was closed for approximately 60 to 90 minutes before being reopened.

The crash remains under investigation, and more details are expected to be released as they become available.
